Without family, the Festival of the Bluegrass wouldn't be the event it is today. Therefore, we welcome families and entertain even the youngest bluegrass fans.

Whether it's bubbles in the middle of the day, a fantastic reptile show, a little one-on-one time with an instrument, or an afternoon at the pool, there are plenty of ways to entertain the entire family.

This year we are adding a family tent camping area near the bath house, swimming pool, and jungle gym.

Children ages 6-18 can also participate in the Kentucky Bluegrass Music Camp, Tuesday, June 10 - Thursday, June 12. Instruction for all levels is available. The cost of the camp is $45 per child. Each child, and one guardian, receives a primitive camping ticket to the Festival of the Bluegrass.

Beginners: some familiarity with the instrument.

Intermediate: ability to strum and change basic cords in time; play simple melodies.

Advanced: Play well with others, be competent at faster rhythms, and complex lead parts.

Kids should provide their own instrument.

Lunch is provided each day.

Classrooms are outdoors, under shade trees and tends. Campers should prepare accordingly and bring an armless folding chair. They should also come equipped with extra picks, rosin, and strings.

For campers spending the night, bring camping and shower gear, a cooler for food and drinks, rain gear, bug spray, and a swimming suit and towel.
