Camp 2008
The Kentucky Bluegrass Music Camp, will be held again this year in conjunction with the Festival of the Bluegrass for students 6-18 years. Each student must have a basic knowledge of music and have their own instrument in good working condition. We will have instructors for vocals, guitar, mandolin, fiddle, banjo, and upright bass and if we have enough interest possibly dobro.
Camp Theme for 2008
This year’s theme will be “The Wild, Wild West”. Come join in the fun by decorating your camp site to create a “Wild West” atmosphere that will be something fun and attractive for your fellow campers to enjoy. Do some research and come up with your own ideas.
Levels of Instruction
We will do our best to offer various levels of instruction. This will depend greatly on the turn out of volunteer instructors that have agreed to help with this years camp.
The following is the criteria used to place the students in their meeting area:
*Intermediate level should at least be able to strum and change basic chords in time and play simple melodies, and to play lead and rhythm parts and be comfortable with slow jamming.
*Advanced level participants are expected to play well with others, be competent at faster rhythms and complex lead parts and cover material quickly.
Meals
The camp will provide lunch all three days of the camp. All other meals will be on your own.
Suggested Items To Bring To Camp
The classrooms are outdoors, under shade tents & shade trees, so bring rain gear, warm clothing, as well as shorts, a swimming suit, sunscreen, large garbage bag, Off (bug spray), poncho, shower kit. Also bring picks, rosin, extra strings, watch, tape recorder, plenty of extra batteries, tapes, flashlight, folding chair, sleeping bag, tent, camera, snack food and cooler with drinks.
